Are you looking for a story about how my grandma used to make yams along with pictures of our family farm with me and Grams, and how this recipe should be called Grammie’s Yammies?
Sorry to disappoint. Here is the recipe:
Air Fryer Sweet and Spicy Yams
Ingredients:
1 medium size yam or sweet potato
1 Tbsp maple syrup
1 Tbsp avocado oil or avocado oil blend
¼ tsp ground cayenne pepper
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp cumin
¼ tsp salt
Directions:
Peel yam and cut into small cubes, about ½” or ¾” in size.
Preheat the air fryer on air fry mode to 400 degrees.
Stir maple syrup, oil, and remaining spices in a small bowl.
Drizzle the maple syrup mixture over the cubed yams, and toss until yams are evenly coated in the mixture.
Place the yams or air fryer tray and air fry for 10-12 minutes, stirring the yams half-way through. Cook until the yams are slightly crisp on the outside and can be easily poked with a fork or toothpick.
A few tips:
Decrease the cayenne pepper amount to a couple dashes for a milder flavor.
Cubed potatoes turn out great in the rotisserie basket of this air fryer.
This can be cooked in a conventional oven as well. 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Serve this along with your favorite protein/meat and a veggie side for a complete meal.
